When we decided to finally do the master bedroom renovation I knew that it would be a complete redo. This is another room that we haven’t touched since we moved in and I truly believe that you should live in your space for a minute (not 10 years like we did but hey this is a no judgement zone) so you can see what works for you in said space. You may notice that you love how the sun lights up the room in the early morning but not so much in the afternoon telling you what kind of blinds you want or how you would rather have hardwood in there instead of carpet like you originally thought you would want. Whatever works for you that is what you want to figure out.

When I started putting the vision board together for this space those are the things I kept in mind. As well as peace of mind and relaxation. Unlike my husband I have a hard time unwinding once I lay down at night and surrounding us with a space that helps with that was important for us.
So I started with this (remember you can change it that’s the fun part):
I knew I wanted to have one main color that stood out but have it also welcome other colors I was going to have around the room. As well as mix in wood accents to bring the feel that I was wanting. I look at it as if we’re going to be sleeping in here I wanted it to become a space that we would actually become relaxed in. Makes sense right?
Some things you see here we already had. The chest of drawers, the headboard, and the rug so I used these to pull ideas from. Usually if you walk around your home you can pull things from other rooms that you may not be using and reuse them in another space; I do it all the time. Like the rug, it used to be in our living room until I replaced it with one slightly bigger. Redoing a room doesn’t have to cost a lot of money you can easily move a room around with things you already own.
The place we spent the most money on was the hardwood oak floor which we allotted for. We talk about cost, look, products used, how we went about picking it, and everything else about that here.
Now when it came to the accent wall that’s where I wanted to put the main color on display but I also had fallen in love with the ledges in these pictures of accent walls I kept seeing. I thought it was a great way to display the art and plants I knew we would be having in here. We planned to use the left over wood from the laundry room renovation to accomplish this look. I also fell in love with a pattern I saw on some wallpaper and I will incorporate it onto the wall for the completed look.
Finish it out with new bedding and a few added bonuses will make it complete.
Remember when putting a vision board together think of what you want to feel in that room. It should reflect you and be what you need it to be….whether it is a spot to relax at the end of the day like your bedroom or a kitchen where people will always gather to feed their souls… always make it you. That’s what matters at the end of the day.
