Greenhouse Revival: A Charming Chicken Run Companion

If you would have told me years ago that we would fall completely in love with plants and everything that has to do with them I would have looked at you crazy. When we first bought our house I instantly fell in love with the house itself and my better half fell in love with the yard.

Fast forward to now and I find myself just as enamored with everything that grows in our yard as he is. So much so that when a friend asked if we wanted to make a beautiful addition to our garden to further indulge our love for plants, we eagerly jumped at the idea! Let me introduce you to this stunning beauty: The Tear Drop Shaped Greenhouse.

She is a beautiful fusion of glass and plexiglass. Now I know she may not catch your eye at first glance, or perhaps you might think she looks neglected, tucked away in a corner and overgrown. But we saw her potential and eagerly took on the challenge of restoring her to her former glory.

During the garden planning process, I envisioned her as the centerpiece of all the garden activities. That’s why I designed a charming chicken run that encircles her. The chicken run adds a delightful touch to the garden, creating a lively atmosphere….especially when the chickens are on their perch peering in while I’m working in it. It always brings a smile to my face and you will find me talking to them while I work every single time.

She is unquestionably the star of our garden, curves and all. All she needed was a little tender loving care.

And so, the puzzle began:

and ended like this:

Sooooo she needed some replacement parts. Our first task was to locate replacement parts. Glass, plexiglass, clips, clamps, moulding – you name it, she was missing it. We had some ordering to do, and it actually took us a few weeks to gather everything we needed. In total, it took us four months to complete her restoration.

But let me tell you, it was worth every moment! Now, let’s accentuate her beautiful curves…..

We built a potting bench:

And adorned her with a variety of plants of course:

Just look at her now!! Even the sun seems to shine a little brighter, as if it senses the debut of something extraordinary.

Which angle do you want I have them all.

Boom! Hip shot.

Pow! Front shot.

this is my favorite shot though!

Whenever I’m working in the greenhouse, it brings a smile to my face, especially knowing that our chickens love watching us through the glass. It’s moments like these that make all the hard work we put into restoring her completely worth it.

In closing, I will say if you have the chance to get a greenhouse do it. Not only are they beautiful, but the benefits they offer to your plants and vegetables for surpasses anything else.

The only thing left now to do is give her name….any suggestions?
