Discover Your Perfect Patio: Creating An Outdoor Oasis

Let me ask you a question ” How many living rooms do you have?” Well we really only have one….inside that is; but we spend so much time outside that we created one on our patio. We have always wanted to make our patio just as comfortable as our living room so we have two living rooms at our house now I guess you could say.

So let me break it down for you….”And it goes it a little somethin like this”

Picture it a unused rundown patio (I think I’ve been watching to many reruns of The Golden Girls) but no really picture it….

Our patio had become a gathering spot for yard things like the “Land of Forgotten Toys”. As well as a spot for my husband to put his machines from work at night; so to say the patio looked junkie was an understatement. I was tired of looking at it and decided to redo it to suit us better.

Along with the “Forgotten Toys” and their machines we had a pretty common setup of a patio table and chairs that we hardly ever used and we would end up sitting in the corner of the patio here-

The only place to sit

So I repurposed the table and set the chairs up to be more useful. Once I did that everything started to come together and my creative juices started flowing. I knew I wanted us to hang lights across the patio ever since we moved in years ago; but for us to do that we had to set a post on the corner of the patio here-

The hubs also wanted to have a built in grill and counter. So he built his own when he came across a gas grill someone was getting rid of and he converted it to charcoal. Add in some tile and brick left over from another job and he came up with this-

He even built a little cubbyhole with a door to store our grill essentials.

Yes ladies and gentleman he’s more than just a pretty face! He’s got skills to pay them bills!!

Add in my finds of some new cushions, a solar umbrella (for those nights of reading), a couple beautiful lanterns, TV, outdoor speakers, and of course many plants and Voila!

I think the hubs and I make a great design team….don’t you?

I’m still contemplating about adding a rug but I don’t think it needs much more unless we add more plants….and in my book you can never go wrong with more plants right?!?!?!

All in all I love how everything came together and I know some of you may be asking “What about the night pics?”

I didn’t forget about you guys here you go-

Doesn’t that just look relaxing? Check out that glow……ooohhhh aaahhh. Give the people a turn you beautiful patio you! Work It!

As I snuggle down in our large comfy chairs eating dinner while catching up on our favorite shows or listening to music there is no other place I would rather be than in our second living room. It has easily become one of our favorite spots during those nice evenings; especially when you add in the sounds of the koi pond, crickets chirping, and a nice drink.

So, let me ask you again…….How many living rooms do you have?

Spread the love
