Picking paint for the master bedroom

Picking the paint for the master bedroom actually took us a minute to figure out. We wanted the colors to be relaxing but not boring. I also knew that their would be an accent wall which I planned on putting a dark rich color on. As well as I wanted to do something to the ceiling but not sure what yet. Knowing we will be painting other rooms in the house in the near future we decided to just get a color swatch book from Sherwin Williams.

The hubs usually doesn’t care what I do when it comes to the renovations but I wanted his opinions on this. I picked a teal and soft dusty rose at first but I decided the teal would look better in the room somewhere else and the dusty rose looked like calamine lotion. So back to the drawing board I went and that is where hubs came in. He picked a green and a rich orange red like this:

Even though the colors were beautiful the orange red was to much but the green was perfect.

The green was Roycroft Bronze Green and I went with a soft tan called Lightweight Beige both by Sherwin Williams. The green was going to be used on the accent wall and as an added bonus I decided I was going to use it on the ceiling. The tan would cover the rest of the walls.

It was perfect. The green was just dark enough that you couldn’t tell if it almost had a grayish look to it and the tan actually changes throughout the day. In the morning it looks tan but in the afternoon it can take on a little bit of a pinky shade but just enough to give the room a warm look.

Now onto finishing the accent wall.
