Orc-Week 7-(wallpaper, pinboards, & those little things)

As I’m sitting here looking at this room and knowing that I just passed the 50% mark as we enter Week 7 of the ORC I at first thought I would just show you were I’m heading with this but instead I thought nah why make it look wrapped up in a pretty picture? That’s not what you want to see….you want the true stories.

🎶TRUE STORIES🎶 (I always sing it like MTV’s The Real World)

Let’s begin where we left off and just go from there.

First let me tell you I changed a few things from the original mood board I started with….like the wallpaper, the rug, the door, and painting the trim in the room. That sounds like a lot doesn’t it? Not really. Well maybe?

WALLPAPER

When I received the samples of the patterns I originally picked it just didn’t make sense to me for the look I was going for. The bees were to big and the pattern was to busy for such a small room. So I fell down the rabbit hole of wallpaper and came across this gorgeous print.

The crazy thing is that it is from my favorite wallpaper company Milton and King and how I didn’t see it before I will blame it on that I was set on looking at certain ones….the wrong ones from other places. Milton and King also offers my favorite way to apply it which is paste the wall. Which is basically what it sounds like…so no soaking in the water for the prepasted, no booking, and no letting it set for 5-10 minutes before its ready. PERFECTION.

Now hanging it on the ceiling I will say is not the easiest thing. Applying it is easy but your nerves while praying that you put enough paste on the ceiling which is kind of like becoming Goldie Locks (just right), while holding it up there, while smoothing it out, and honestly cussing at it asking why its not cooperating. Is a whole other thing people. I also noticed something else while I was cutting the length of the strips I needed…

I didn’t order enough. But damn it I’m hanging what I have cause some things will get done now and god do those two strips look beautiful.

PINBOARDS

If you remember from my mood board post I was inspired for my pinboards from Eyeswoon but I wanted to change it up. I didn’t want to just have a wall of pinboards so I changed the shape so I could have room for some handmade art. I also popped them off the wall an inch with copper end caps. Just a little peek a boo of surprise. Check it. She’s beauty. She’s grace. She’s taken up this space.

THE DOOR

Now when it comes to the door what can I say I mean its a door. Theirs not much to it except that we purchased a door to match the doors in the newer part of the house. But just like anything when you are doing a project you know its not just as easy as unhinging a door and putting the new one in. We had to take out the entire frame of the doorway and install a new one. I also didn’t have to get a new doorknob because it actually was updated to match the other knobs in the house already. Thank you for small projects.

RUG

In the mood board I picked a black and white rug but the more I looked at it it just didn’t make sense for me. I will admit I starting back down the rabbit hole and ended up on Wayfair. I looked at red ones, light ones, purple ones, green ones, and on and on. The one I picked popped up out of the blue just like the wallpaper and it just made sense. And the added bonus it was under $100 bucks.

PAINTING TRIM

I’ve gone back and forth about painting the trim the same color as the walls. I’m happy to say I haven’t decided yet. I mean some days I’m all for it and other days I’m against it. I think once I have everything in there it will be easier for me to see how it would look. It’s just the way I work I’m a very visual person.

So I think I covered everything so far:

Wallpaper✔️ Pinboards ✔️ Door ✔️ Rug ✔️

Next week is the grand finale…well its supposed to be and I think I might make it.

Fingers Crossed.

Spread the love
